The neighboring farmers help with the cleanup, and businessman Putzmann realizes that this could ruin Krantz. He steps in to overhaul his neighbor’s finances and negotiate a line of credit with the S&L. “I know accountants and bankers can be a bunch of cold blooded bastards, but today’s going to be different.” He held up a finger. “This cold-blooded bastard’s on your side.” Working his way up from a loan officer to the branch president, Putzmann negotiates better terms than anything Krantz could imagine.
