Maria’s daughter Heidi moves back to Kummelsdorf after her divorce, and the attraction between her and Putzmann is more than visible, inspiring him to climb a tree after church. Heidi cooks a big Sunday supper for Maria, Kirsch, Putzmann, and her two young sons Didi and Günther. Along with table talk, Putzmann and Heidi engage in olympic class footsie during the supper, then taking a long walk afterward to tell each other their life stories. What started as simple attraction begins to develop into chemistry.
